Make Listening Safe Campaign UK (MLSC UK) underway – Please sign their ePetition!

09.11.24

Make Listening Safe Campaign UK (MLSC UK) are delighted to announce that they have launched their first theme which is to encourage the UK government to change the safety standards for headphones so that they meet ITU/WHO H.870 v2 and provide users with information about their sound dose levels in all use cases so that they can manage their exposure and that of their children.

MLSC UK are doing this by using a UK government ePetition – https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/650365

The petitions have two action levels. At 10,000 signatures the UK government are required to reply to MLSC UK and at 100,000 signatures they have to consider a debate on the topic.

The key action now is for us to get as many signatures as possible, so MLSC UK would very much appreciate it if you would support them by taking the following actions:

  • Sign the ePetition yourself, if you are a UK citizen.
  • Circulate the ePetition to the colleagues in your organisation in the UK and ask them if they would sign it too.
  • Circulate to your personal networks in the UK and ask them if they would sign it too.
  • Post on your social media feeds, please find some suggested texts below, please feel free to amend the text as you see fit:

Would you like to manage your sound exposure when using headphones? As a proud member of the pro bono team delivering the Make Listening Safe Campaign UK, we are pleased to share an ePetition calling on the Government to change the safety standards related to headphones. The MLSC UK would like to see all headphones sold in the UK providing users with information about their sound dose levels so they can manage their exposure and that of their children.

If you are UK citizen, please follow the link and sign: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/650365

Please note that the deadline for this ePetition is 22nd May 2024.
