UPDATE FOLLOWING PUBLICATION OF THE INDEPENDENT REVIEW OF AUDIOLOGY SERVICES IN SCOTLAND

27.04.24

This update is being sent to all colleagues who were part of the Review Group and/or Reference Group for the Independent Review of Audiology Services in Scotland.

The Scottish Government set out its response to the Independent Review on 14 December, via a Parliamentary Question which is publicly available on the Parliament website: Written question and answer: S6W-23902 | Scottish Parliament Website.

Given the scope and number of recommendations, it was necessary for the Scottish Government to take some time to give consideration to them before setting out next steps.

An Implementation Group, referred to in the Parliamentary Question, will now be convened and work will be taken forward at pace – in line with expectations from Ministers – to make improvements to audiology services across Scotland.

A Programme Manager has now been appointed, and is in post as of December 2023. They will support the Implementation Group going forward and will engage with necessary stakeholders as part of that work.

Finally, the Scottish Government would like to take the opportunity to thank you all again, for the time and effort put in to supporting this important work.

Kind Regards,

Laura Sweeney

Policy Officer
