Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) launch a consultation on proposed changes to the fees they charge registrants and applicants

10.12.22

These proposals aim to ensure the HCPC’s future financial sustainability and are underpinned by careful financial analysis of what is necessary for the HCPC to continue to meet its statutory objective and protect the public. Information about their proposals can be found on their dedicated consultation webpage.

HCPC wish to hear views on the proposals from stakeholders including registrants, service users, professional bodies, employers and trades unions. Individuals and organisations can respond to their consultation via the survey on their consultation page.

They will also be holding a series of webinars for registrants and other stakeholders from across the UK, during the consultation period, which can be accessed via their consultation page.

Subject to legislative approvals, they propose that an increase in annual renewal fees would come into effect on a phased basis in line with the registration renewal cycle for each profession. Any increase would be effective from July 2023 at the earliest. The majority of registrants would not pay the increase until 2024 or 2025. Should this increase be implemented, their intention would be to move to smaller, incremental increases in the future.

The consultation will close at 23.59 on Thursday 15 December 2022.
