Chair's Update June 2022

Dear Members,

I hope this month’s e-bulletin finds you safe and well.

In the new year Nicci Campbell, our lead for the BSA website circulated a membership survey to gather opinion on current and future website requirements. This was in preparation for its re-development and update. We are now in the process of setting up a working group to focus on this activity and move the project forwards and as such we are inviting representation from membership, Special Interest Groups, student members and Council so that a broad cross section of perspectives are considered during the re-design. As a member of BSA your opinion matters and we would like you to be involved in this project. If you are interested in getting involved or finding out more please contact donna.corrigan@dmu.ac.uk. The first online meeting for the project has been provisionally booked for Friday 8th July at 2pm.

Have you visited the Online Learning platform recently? For anyone interested in global Audiology projects, Hassan Saleem describes the work of a school founded many years ago in Mandalay by a UK couple that is well supported today by UK based Audiologists and ENT colleagues. Also new in the Online Learning platform is the work of Dr Margaret Zuriekat who introduces us to her research “The Impact of Hearing Loss on Work Life & the Supporting Role of Audiology: A Qualitative Exploration of the Perspectives of Workers with Hearing Loss and Audiologists”, this instigated some personal reflection for me about how the demands of fitting hearings aids over the years have changed!

This year’s Annual General Meeting will take place online on Tuesday 5th July at 2pm, please check your email for the notification and link to the meeting. If you have not received the email notification, please contact us at bsa@thebsa.org.uk. I do hope that you can join us!
