Chair's Update January 2023

Dear members,

I would like to wish you all a very happy new year and hope that you are all looking forward to a great 2023. Why not start the year on a positive and celebrate the achievements of your colleagues and peers? The new BSA awards portfolio is now open for submissions and with 7 awards there is the opportunity to highlight and commend a wide variety of great work and innovation – please do take a look at the awards information here and get those applications in! The BSA Council will review applications at our next meeting in March, announcing and celebrating the awards at our Scientific Meeting on 5th/6th June (save that date!!).

The BSA Council meeting the week before Christmas was a great opportunity to review the activity from the last quarter of 2022, and look forward to what our groups have to offer and are planning this coming year. To highlight just a few…..the Online Learning Group have new learning available now across a range of topics, this is constantly being added to, so if you haven’t visited for a while, now is a good time. The Tinnitus and Hyperacusis SIG are developing information leaflets that will be available early this year, the Balance interest group is planning an event in the Autumn of 2023, and, the PGG will be performing a full review of the Recommended Procedure for Pure-tone air-conduction and bone conduction threshold audiometry with and without masking.

And, finally for this month, World Hearing Day takes place on the 3rd March 2023 and we are offering a years free membership to the winner of our competition to create a poster to send the message ‘Get hearing care if you have concerns about your ears or your hearing’, the deadline is the 20th February so get your creative energy flowing!

Best wishes
