Chair's Update April 2024

Dear members,

Congratulations to the 2 individuals that have been awarded BSA fellowship this month! Thank you for your positive contributions to the field of audiology and helping to meet the aims of the BSA. We are now open for the latest (19th cohort) of applications which closes on the 17th May 2024 – will you be one our next fellows?

We held our first Council meeting of 2024 last month, receiving reports from all our trustees, SIG and group chairs and there is a lot underway and being planned for example Rebecca Millman and Ann-Marie Dickinson of CH SIG led the 4th Dementia network event about “Hearing rehabilitation for people with dementia: Part 2” earlier this year, TH SIG are creating an information sheet ‘All about hyperacusis’ while BCMED and APD SIG’s are both planning webinars later this year and BIG will be holding a one-day event on the 11th July at Aston University in Birmingham.  And of course, all our groups will be highlighting their work at the Scientific meeting this year in Birmingham. Stands are nearly sold out, will you be joining us?

Since launching the new BSA website Nicci has been keeping an active watch of the Google analytics of the site, it seems Wednesdays are the most popular days for your visiting the site and as many people would expect the Guidance documents section is consistently one of the most popular sections. Don’t forget that “Sound Practice” is a virtual library of ideas that aims to support provision of adult hearing rehabilitation, have you had a look at this great resource, do you have something to share? ARIG have also been adding new content to the BSA Online learning with the PROTEA toolkit and plan to add content relating to Bluetooth technology soon.

Kind Regards

Donna Corrigan
