Ear wax removal services are essential and around 2.3 million people in the UK need professional ear wax removal every year. The RNID research shows that too many people are not able to get their ear wax professionally removed. As a result, people face painful symptoms, limited audiology care, and mental health challenges.
Some of you may know that last year we published a report highlighting the variation in provision of ear wax removal in England, with only around half of ICBs commissioning a full service. One year on, we’ve repeated the research and found that while there has been some improvement in provision, progress is still too slow and too many people are unable to access this vital service if they need it. We’re also encouraging the pubic to contact their local representative.
