Request for Centres to Participate in the IMPACT Trial

12/03/2026

On behalf of the IMPACT team

Louise Nicholson-Scott is the Trial Manager working on the IMplemented by Parents And Carers Therapy (IMPACT) Trial.

This study is investigating whether Hanen’s It Takes Two to Talk programme, delivered alongside standard care, can improve language outcomes for deaf children with cochlear implants.

The trial has received all necessary regulatory approvals and is currently active at two centres, with six paediatric cochlear implant programmes signed up to participate.

To meet the recruitment target of 158 children, the team is seeking to open at least four additional centres across the UK.

Centres involved in paediatric cochlear implant programmes that may be interested in participating are encouraged to get in touch to learn more about the study.

To support awareness of the trial, Louise and the team have developed an information poster and a short introductory video (both linked below) outlining the aims of the study and what participation would involve.

If your centre may be interested in participating in the IMPACT Trial, or if you would like further information, please get in touch. Louise and the trial team would be very happy to discuss the study in more detail.
