Joint Audiology Leaders Group established to strengthen collaboration across the profession

26/03/2026

A new Joint Audiology Leaders Group (JALG) has been established, bringing together senior leaders from the British Academy of Audiology (BAA), British Society of Audiology (BSA), British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA) and the Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals (AIHHP).

The group met for the first time earlier this month and has agreed to meet monthly in the initial phase, focusing on identifying and progressing joint projects where collaborative action can deliver greater impact.

JALG has been formed to strengthen the collective voice of the audiology profession across the UK and to provide a forum for coordinated leadership on key national issues. Its work will span a number of priority areas, including professional standards, education and workforce development, research and evidence translation, policy and advocacy, and public engagement.

By aligning activity across organisations, the group aims to support high standards of clinical practice, promote evidence-based approaches, and improve outcomes for patients. It will also enable a more unified response to external challenges and opportunities facing hearing and balance services.

The group will operate on a consensus basis, reflecting a shared commitment to professionalism, integrity, and patient-centred care, and may establish focused workstreams to deliver specific objectives.

JALG will meet while work continues towards the formation of a College of Audiology, providing a mechanism for closer collaboration and system-wide leadership during this important period for the profession.
