Highlights from the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis SIG members who attended the Tinnitus UK 2025 Conference

22/10/2025

The Tinnitus UK 2025 Conference took place in Birmingham on Friday 19th September, bringing together professionals, researchers, and advocates from across the country.

Members of the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Special Interest Group (SIG) were there in full force — both to share our latest work and to learn about recent developments in the field.

It was a great start to the day with our members, Dr Kathryn Fackrell and Dr Kerry McCormick featuring in an engaging panel session, alongside Tinnitus UK CEO Alex to discuss the ongoing challenges in tinnitus care and opportunities for greater collaboration to improve services in the future.

The conference programme was packed, with several parallel sessions covering topics such as support groups, best practice guidance, tinnitus in children, and addressing the unmet needs of people living with tinnitus.

Our members Rachel Knappett and Dr Kathryn Fackrell presented findings from our recent service evaluation on accessing mental health support for tinnitus and hyperacusis, which sparked a great discussion about issues that arise in practice and the changes needed to enhance support pathways.

Our other members who attended,  Dr Magdalena Sereda and Dr Nasir Rashid were kept busy while manning the at the BSA stand — sharing information, networking, and taking part in the Research Round Robin to exchange fresh ideas and methodologies.

We also bumped into familiar faces from our group who were presenting their work or just enjoying the day. The event offered a fantastic opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and be inspired by what is happening in the world of tinnitus.

We’re already looking forward to the next conference and to continuing the important conversations started in Birmingham.
