North West School of Audiology (NWSA) – Audiology Assistant Basic Certificate Course

The course aims to provide the underpinning knowledge and understanding that is required by an Audiology Assistant and Dispensing Assistant.

(NHS Agenda for change pay band 2 or 3 staff/ Apprenticeship levels 2 or 3)

This course is BSA accredited for Audiometry and Tympanometry, and Otoscopy and impression taking (over 5 years) and certificates are awarded on successful completion of the practical exams.

The Course will be held at Trafford Hospital, Manchester on the following dates:

25th – 27th September

15th – 17th October

16th – 18th December

29th – 31st January 2025

27th – 28th February 2025

The course covers the following:             

  • Anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the ear.
  • Acoustics, causes and disability of hearing loss, tinnitus.
  • Audiometry and diagnostic tests of hearing including tympanometry.
  • Hearing devices and technology, rehabilitation, servicing, and repairs, hearing aid programming and troubleshooting, otoscopy and impression taking.
  • Revision day, plus a day of theoretical and practical exams
