Chair's Update September 2024
Dear members,
Welcome to this month’s BSA e update and all the very best to students and staff who are starting the new academic year. It is a joy to welcome new students into our profession as they begin their Audiology degrees. We also delight in sharing learning with experienced professionals who are choosing to do additional modules at our universities, and through other forms of CPD. As our profession expands its opportunities for learning and development, our Special Interest Groups are planning learning events; let us know if there is a topic that you would particularly like to explore.
You may be aware that AIHHP, BAA, BSA, and BSHAA have been meeting as professional and membership bodies to discuss how we can collaborate to support the field of audiology across the public and private sectors. We are pleased to have agreed to work as a collaborative group on specific issues that benefit all our members, the wider audiology community, and our patients. Whilst our organisations will each continue to operate independently, supporting and representing its own members, the aim of a collaborative workgroup will be to create a stronger, more unified voice for audiology, ensuring that our collective efforts lead to meaningful progress and positive outcomes. We look forward to sharing updates from our collaborative work in the coming months and to continuing to work alongside other organisations and sectors in this endeavour
The BSA Council had a productive meeting earlier this month which included hearing about the extensive efforts of each Special Interest Group. The groups now have access to an additional project fund and interesting ideas for using this fund are already being received. We’ll keep you up to date as the work progresses.
Best regards
Siobhan
