Chair's Update January 2025
Welcome to this month’s BSA e update. I hope that you got the opportunity to have some rest and are ready for the new year.
Look out for the BSA at different events this year; we do enjoy getting out and about! The soonest event is the Tinnitus UK’s research launch on February 4th in London. If you are there do come along to the BSA stand to say hello to Kathryn Fackrell and Rachel Knappett who are representing our Tinnitus and Hyperacusis SIG!
Our guidance continues to be developed at pace. Among these, a working group is coming together to consider an update to the Position Statement and Practice Guidance Audiological assessment and hearing aid provision for patients with a programmable ventriculo-peritoneal (PVP) shunt. Do get in touch if you would like to contribute to this. The prolific Electrophysiology SIG is also working on feedback about the updated Recommended Procedure Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) Testing in Babies document. Furthermore, the Recommended Procedure on Assessment and Management of Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) in Young Infants and Recommended Procedure on Cochlear Microphonic Testing are being merged and coming out for review imminently.
It is also exciting to read about the progress on updating the BSA Minimum Training Standards for Aural Care in collaboration with the National Aural Care Strategy Group; this document is almost ready for public consultation.
Best regards
Siobhan
