The British Society of Audiology, British Academy of Audiology and The British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists are pleased to publish this joint Position Statement and Clinical Guidance on “The link between adult-onset hearing loss and dementia.” This document provides: (i) a balanced view on what is known about the association between adult-onset hearing loss, cognitive decline and dementia, and (ii) provides guidance for clinicians on acceptable statements and answers to Frequently Asked Questions. The authors represent professionals in in the field of hearing loss (across the UK Devolved Administrations) and old age psychiatry, service users, and BSA, BAA and BSHAA.
