The BSA Annual Conference 2010 will be hosted by The University of Manchester. It will be a special event that brings together science from across the broad range of interests represented in the BSA, from basic hearing science to translational research and its applications to clinical practice. For 2010 we are bringing together the Annual Conference and the Experimental Short Papers meeting into one event that celebrates the strengths in hearing science in the UK and the connections between basic and clinical research. We are maintaining the strengths of the individual meetings while providing extra value for members who would normally attend one or the other. The costs will be kept surprisingly low, especially for students, resulting in this meeting providing excellent value for money.
For delegates who normally attend the Annual Conference, you will see the usual mix of keynote and oral presentations on clinical and translational research, workshops and focus groups, together with a significant exhibition. The main difference for you will be that the oral presentations will be selected from submitted abstracts (apart from keynote addresses). This is your chance to participate in telling the UK (and international delegates) all about your research, whether as a poster or oral presentation. We will be advertising a call for abstracts early in 2010. We anticipate that the poster presentations (more than 150) will be a significant and important part of the programme.
There will be three poster prizes: one each for clinical, translational and basic research. Abstracts (after review) will be published in the International Journal of Audiology.
To encompass the expanded range of events, the conference will extend over full days on the Thursday and Friday.
The venue, on the main campus, houses new conference facilities with a state-of-the-art auditorium, a purpose built space for integrating posters & exhibition with refreshments/lunch, and onsite accommodation (inexpensive student accommodation or hotel accommodation) & car parking.
On Wednesday evening there will be the opportunity to ‘drink with dinosaurs’ at a wine reception and twilight lecture in Manchester Museum, a two minute walk from the conference venue. The conference dinner on Thursday evening will be held at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester
N.B. The price quoted is for the first 350 delegates only. After this, the price may change, so get your registration form in early and book your place now! Conference Booklet including all abstracts
