The BSA Professional Practice Committee has vacancies for two new members. We have received applications from 6 candidates and this means that a postal ballot is required.
Members can view the applications on the Members Area, then download a voting form which should be signed, dated, and posted to the BSA Secretariat by Thursday 16th September at the latest.
Please Note - User registration is required to access the Members Area. If you don't already have an account but are a member of the BSA, click Register under Members Login on the left hand side |

Following the recent ballot we are pleased to announce that the following members have been elected to sit on Council immediately following the AGM on 9 September 2010:
Dr Huw Cooper
Dr Heather Fortnum
Mr Graham Frost
Dr Helen Pryce
Dr Daniel Rowan
Dr Nick Thyer
Congratulations to all and many thanks to all those who voted.
The BSA is also pleased to announce that following a members ballot Kevin Munro will become Vice Chairman of the Society when David Baguley takes over the role of Chairman at the AGM in September at the end of Ros Davies term of office.
Andy Reid will take over the role of Treasurer when Ewa Raglan steps down at the AGM in September.
We are also pleased to announce that Dr David Furness will take up the post of BSA Secretary immediately following the AGM on 9 September.
With the move of Andy Reid from BSA Programmes Committee Chair to BSA Treasurer in September 2010, there is an opportunity for BSA Council to appoint to the Programmes Chair role. This is an exciting and strategically important position in BSA. Further information can be found on the Members page of the website.

The British Society of Audiology is pleased to announce the following members have received awards. They will be presented at the forthcoming Annual Conference Dinner in Manchester on Thursday, 9th September 2010.
Thomas Simm Littler Prize Dr Robert P Carlyon - for contributions to the basic understanding of mechanisms of hearing for normally hearing people, people with hearing loss, and people with cochlear implants.
Jos Millar Shield Debbie Phillis (nee Fife) - for her article What benefits does a customised vestibular rehabilitation service offer over a set Cawthorne-Cooksey programme of exercise? – A service audit BSA News December 2009
Ruth Spencer Prize Helen Pryce - in recognition of the great contribution she has made to audiology in setting up and running the Adult Audiological Rehabilitation MSc at Bristol University. This is the only course of its kind in the UK, and as such it ensures that people with advanced rehabilitation and counselling skills continue to form part of the audiology workforce, even though the hearing therapy training route is no longer available. The Centre for Hearing and Balance studies at Bristol University is small, and staff thinly spread. Helen put a great deal of work into the development of the MSc on her own, and it is largely thanks to hear dedication and commitment that it has become a successful and popular academic course today.
George Harris Award
Josephine Marriage - for contributions to clinical aspects of paediatric amplification
Denzil Brooks Trophy Anne Davies - for promoting excellence in audiological practice and clinical leadership through organisation of ‘Steering a True Course’.
Honorary Life Membership
Bruce Rowe, Dr Sally Hind and Pauline Beesley |
